Nóg var um að vera á aðventunni í Vallaskóla. Við byrjuðum á skreytingardegi í lok nóvember, syntum kertasund og hreyfðum okkur í Tarzanleik í leikfimi. Settum upp leikþætti og helgileik, héldum jólaball og jólakvöldvöku. Og svo er bara allt í einu komið jólafrí. Jólaball (sem reyndar voru þrjú) var haldið 19. og 20. desember fyrir nemendur í 1.-6. bekk, þar sem m.a. nemendur í 5. bekk sýndu helgileik en það er föst venja. Foreldrum var boðið til samverunnar. Dansað var í kringum jólatré við undirleik hljómsveitar Tónlistarskóla Árnesinga og jólasveinar heilsuðu upp á yngstu börnin. Tvær stúlkur úr 9. bekk, þær Stella og Rakel í 9. DS, sungu jólalögin með hljómsveitinni og gerðu það feykivel. Gaman var að sjá hve margir foreldrar sáu sér fært að koma á hátíðina.
Nemendur í 7. bekk héldu sína eigin skemmtun 19. desember. Boðið var upp á fjölbreytt og metnaðarfull leikatriði í Austurrýminu. Foreldrar fengu boðskort á skemmtunina og henni lauk með kaffisamsæti. Þar var boðið upp á allskonar góðgæti en hver fjölskylda kom með sínar veitingar og settu á sameiginlegt kaffihlaðborð. Ánægjuleg stund það.
Jólakvöldvakan var að venju haldin á unglingastigi þar sem hver bekkur var með atriði. Á undan voru stofujól haldin. Kynnar á skemmtuninni voru þær Þóra í 10. SAG og Guðbjörg í 10. SHJ. Dómarar voru þau Bryndís, Már og Aron. Þau voru ekki í vandræðum að velja úr fjölbreyttri en misjafnlega metnaðarfullri flóru atriða að þessu sinni. Það voru ,,gárungarnir“ í 10. RS sem sigruðu örugglega með atriði sitt Jólasveinavísur. Að launum hlutu þau að sjálfsögðu stærstu dolluna af Mackintoshsælgætinu, sem hvarf fljótt og örugglega ofan í sigursæla nemendur 10. RS. Til hamingju með það! Fleiri atriði í svipuðum dúr voru á boðstólnum og er þá sjálfsagt að hrósa sérstaklega nemendum í 8. HSG með leikþáttinn sinn Svartur húmor.
